Job Description



Scope and General Purpose:

Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities.

Reporting to:

Head of Engineering

Responsible for:

Projects/Club Civil Works

Report all matters to Chief Engineer.

Main Duties:

  • Undertake technical and feasibility studies and site investigations.
  • Develop detailed designs.
  • Research and interview vendors to obtain the best price and availability of supplies.
  • Supervise tendering procedures and put together proposals.
  • Manage, supervise and visit contractors on site and advise on civil engineering issues.
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues, architects, subcontractors, contracting civil engineers, consultants.
  • Assess the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertake risk management in specialist roles.
  • Think creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems.
  • Review and approve project drawings within budget and other project resources.
  • Schedule material and equipment purchases and delivery.
  • Supervise staff, schedule and delegate duties, approve leave requests and overtime payments.
  • Adopt all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits,
  • environmental regulations, sanitary design, good manufacturing practices and safety on all work assignments.
  • Ensure that a project runs smoothly and that the structure is completed on time and within budget.
  • Correct any project deficiencies that affect quality and safety requirements before final evaluation and project reviews.
  • Ensure proper records are kept relating to all projects for the Club.
  • Compile reports as required by the Management Committee and Secretary.
  • Respond to management inquires.
  • Ensure safe work practice of all Project staff, including compliance with Club safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment. Also to ensure that staff is fully aware of the key security concerns
  • Any other duty assigned by the management.
