Job Description:

Purpose of the Role

The Head of Boiler is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, efficiency, safety, and compliance of the company’s boiler systems. The role ensures uninterrupted steam generation through the effective management of coal-fired and biomass-fired boilers while optimizing fuel consumption, maintaining equipment reliability, and leading operational teams to achieve production objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Boiler Operations Management

Oversee the efficient operation of coal-fired and biomass-fired boilers to ensure continuous and reliable steam supply.
Monitor boiler performance parameters and implement corrective actions to maximize operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and industry best practices.

Fuel Management & Optimization

Manage the consumption and utilization of fuels, including coal, rice husk, and cattle waste.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and feeding of fuel to maintain operational efficiency and minimize wastage.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize fuel usage and reduce operational costs.

Maintenance & Reliability

Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for boiler equipment and auxiliary systems.
Conduct regular inspections to identify operational risks and equipment issues.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and minimize downtime.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Standards

Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure the implementation of emergency response procedures.
Monitor emissions and operational practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Team Leadership & Development

Supervise and guide boiler operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.
Conduct training sessions on safe boiler operations, maintenance practices, and emergency procedures.
Evaluate team performance and support continuous skill development.

Reporting & Coordination

Maintain accurate records of fuel consumption, boiler performance, maintenance activities, and operational efficiency.
Prepare and submit periodic operational, maintenance, and consumption reports to management.
Coordinate with production, utilities, maintenance, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted steam availability.

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

Identify operational issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance boiler efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements where required.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications related to Boiler Operations, Steam Systems, or Industrial Utilities will be an added advantage.

Experience

10–15 years of relevant experience in boiler operations and maintenance within manufacturing, textile, chemical, power generation, or similar industrial environments.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role managing boiler operations and utility teams.
Hands-on experience with coal-fired and biomass-fired boiler systems is mandatory.
